Home Again

from the Slaughter Pipeline

We had been fervently sharing this register-able chestnut Andalusian pony mare’s Kaufman Kill Pen ad on our Iberian Horse Rescue Network page on Facebook when this mare’s breeder saw one of our posts and promptly called us.

She was understandably distraught, and curious how to help get this pony safe. We discussed the details of buying a horse from the kill pens, quarantine, finding transport and our fund raising efforts.

Never in her wildest dreams, she said, could she ever imagine this pony would end up in a kill pen!

Donations from our members, and one generous anonymous donor, made it possible for IHR to cotribute toward the purchase price (27%) of “Rowen” the half Andalusian, 1/4 QH, 1/4 Welsh pony chestnut mare and save her life.

The pony club was able to come up with the rest of the mare’s bail ($1,500 total), and arrange for transport and quarantine.

With her breeder’s help and contacts in their local pony club, the Andalusian pony now had new hope, and a paid home offer through the pony club!

This Andalusian pony mare, Rowen, is safe from slaughter because of IHR members - like you - who took the time to share the urgency of her situation, those members who donated, and because her breeder stepped up and found additional help for her through their local pony club!
